| Histoire résumée | The brand-new. all-metal GT·2 sailplane. an original design of Frank Green and George Tweed of La Mesa, California, which first flew on March 1st. It was originally conceived half-way through the 1960 Nationals at Odessa, Texas, when George was flying his GT-1 and realized he needed more span to stay with the hot rods. The result is a threepiece. 60-ft. wing with an area of 150 sq. ft.. giving an aspect ratio of 24. This together with a 65131-618 laminar airfoil. gives a maximum glide ratio of approximately 35 to 1 in the initial "dirty" condition. Empty weight is 590 lb. and gross weight is 850 lb. at a wing loading of 5.7 Ib./sq. ft. Stalling speed Is 43 mph. Plans cal1 for taking it to Texas this summer for Diamond distance attempts. | ||||||
