Histoire résumée | Projet de planeur cargo, non abouti. The G-64 was one of several assault glider projects studied in Grokhovsky's OKB.Ihis glider accomodating 50 troops embodied a "flying wing" concept, the cargo cabin being located in the thick rectangular wing centre sectton. The upper surface of the wing above the cargo cabin was glazed. The crew cockpit located on the centreline did not protrude beyond the wing leading edge and was faired into the wing contours. Two vertical tails flanking the wing centre section were located at the trailing edge. The outer wing panels had considerable leading-edge sweep and an unswept trailing edge. The fixed spatted mainwheels were located under the leading edqe of the wing centre section at the junctions with the outer wings. They were presumaby supplemented by a tailwheel or tailskid under the trailing edge of the wing centre section. The designers envisaged the use of the Tupolev R-6 reconnaissance aircraft or Tupolev TB-1 bornber as a tug for the G-64. | ||||||
